Free 30-Minute Cyber Essentials Consultation for UK SMEs
Published 15 July 2026
Why we run these consultations
The NCSC recently expanded its free hands-on cyber support for UK small businesses, and we think that is exactly the right direction. Most SMEs we speak to do not need a sales pitch – they need someone qualified to look at what they actually have, tell them what will pass, and what will not. That is what this 30-minute call is for.
What you get in 30 minutes
- A plain-English walkthrough of the five Cyber Essentials controls and how each one applies to your setup
- Honest scoping – how many devices, which cloud services and which people fall inside your assessment boundary
- Early flags on the common fails: MFA gaps, unsupported operating systems, the 14-day patching rule, BYOD, and hosted-desktop scope
- A realistic effort estimate – most UK SMEs need 2–4 weeks of part-time preparation
- A tailored quote using our IASME banding, usually sent within 24 hours
Who this is for
UK organisations from sole traders up to around 250 people who are considering Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus. Especially useful if you have a tender deadline, are renewing an expired certificate, or have been quoted by a self-service platform and want a sanity check.
What we will not do
We will not sell you an audit you do not need, gate the useful information behind a paywall, or push you toward Plus if the Basic level is what your buyer actually asked for. If the honest answer is "you are already 90% there, do it yourself with the free NCSC materials", we will say so.
