Case Study
Case Study: Switching Cyber Essentials Provider at Renewal
Published 30 April 2026
The brief
The client had been with a low-cost online provider for two annual cycles. Renewal had to be completed before expiry to maintain a key supplier framework listing. The previous provider's turnaround was 3+ weeks and support was via offshore email queue.
Why they switched
- Previous renewal took 24 days end to end
- No named assessor – different person each email
- No pre-check – first attempt failed on BYOD scope wording
- Resubmission charged separately
- Danzell question set landing 27 April 2026 was making the team nervous
What we did
- Day 1 – 30-minute call. Confirmed the IASME account could be transferred to our certification portal at no cost.
- Day 2 – Walk-through of the Danzell question set, focusing on what had changed since their previous certification.
- Day 3 – SAQ completed with the client over 2 hours. Pre-submission review flagged one MFA wording issue; fixed.
- Day 4 – Submitted and reviewed. Certificate issued same afternoon.
The outcome
- Renewal completed in 4 working days vs 24 previously
- Named UK assessor (Harpal Bilan) on every interaction
- £25k cyber liability cover added (not previously included)
- Same all-in price as their previous provider's "cheap" headline once rush and resubmission fees were stripped out
- Now retained for CE Plus exploration in year 2
How to switch
You don't need to wait for expiry. We can take over your IASME portal access within 24 hours of an introduction email. Your existing certificate stays valid until its expiry date.
