What is G-Cloud 15?
G-Cloud 15 is the next iteration of the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) cloud services framework, used by UK central government, local authorities, the NHS and the wider public sector to buy cloud hosting, software and cloud support. Every supplier awarded a place on the framework must demonstrate baseline cyber security controls. In practice this means holding a valid Cyber Essentials certificate at the point of contract award.
Why suppliers are getting certified now
Framework submission windows are short. Suppliers who leave certification to the final week routinely run out of time on evidence gathering, MFA rollout and patching. The three questions we get every week
- Does CE Plus count? Yes, and it exceeds standard requirements. Only pursue CE Plus for G-Cloud 15 if a specific lot names it.
- Can we bid while pending? You can submit, but the certificate must be valid before contract award.
- What about G-Cloud 14 certificates? Valid Cyber Essentials certificates carry across. Renewal must happen before expiry.
